If you long for this and are willing to invest two days every three months, we promise it will be well worth your investment! Are you a pastor, church staff member, counselor, spiritual director, or Christian business leader who desires connection and support in your work or ministry? Do you long to fashion a life that flows from your truest God-self and co-labors for the healing and well-being of the world without losing your soul? If so, School of the Spirit is for you.

Core Components: SOS offers a pathway to wholeness, blending ancient wisdom with modern learning in a contemporary setting through our core components to strengthen your soul and nurture your growth:

Retreats

Five quarterly 2-day retreats with Spirit-led experiences through fresh teaching, worship liturgy, visio-divina, artistic expression, icons, nature, poetry, and more.

Relationships

Group spiritual direction, soul friendship, spiritual direction listing, alum connection, easy facilitator access, with monthly email/peer connection.

Resources

Ancient and contemporary content, monthly book and a discussion group, blogs, podcasts, documentaries, recommended reading lists, Canvas access, and more.

Rule of Life

The SOS 12-month experience culminates in developing a Rule of Life, as the ancients called it. A sane, simple, doable structure (support trellis) of principles, practices, and relationships that enable us to say yes to the transformational process of life in Christ. It begs the question, says Ruth Haley Barton, “How do I want to live so I can be who I want to be?”

School of the Spirit is an online and in-person twelve-month journey into contemplative practices that bring the seeker closer to God.

 The distinctiveness of School of the Spirit is seen in at least three ways:

  • the strength of diversity that comes from openness to seekers from all Christian denominations who are searching for a heart-opening transformation into the mind of Christ;

  • a focus on Jesus' spiritual practices and the centuries-old practices that spiritual seekers down through the ages used to open themselves to God’s transforming work — and not to the latest fad or way to fix oneself; and

  • a vital and committed community to hold each participant’s journey. Through the process of placing ourselves vulnerably before God and each other to be schooled by the Holy Spirit, God’s love and grace renews our minds and revives our spirits — and our ministries are enlivened, too. At the same time, our yoke becomes easy as we abide ever more deeply in the interior freedom, care, and love of God.

 All in a beautiful setting

Limited to 24 clergy, leaders, healing ministry providers, and thirsty pilgrims. Hear what others say.
